Food contact and hygienic design are different questions
A food application needs suitable contact materials, but it may also require a defined cleanability and drainage strategy. Start by describing the product and the cleaning process. A stainless steel housing or sanitary-looking connection does not establish that every configuration meets the same process requirements.
Where the two series differ
WILDEN positions Saniflo FDA pumps for standard food duties that do not require Hygienic Series design or clean-in-place capability. Saniflo Hygienic Series pumps feature a free-draining flow path intended to support CIP. These are selection distinctions, not interchangeable labels for a single pump family.
Write the cleaning requirement before the inquiry
State whether cleaning requires disassembly, cleaning out of place or a validated CIP process. Include cleaning chemicals, temperature, product retention concerns and drainage orientation. Record how the surrounding piping, valves and connections will be cleaned; the pump cannot make an unsuitable system cleanable on its own.
Ask for configuration-specific evidence
Request declarations and documentation that apply to the exact supplied configuration and intended market. If a project requires a particular hygienic or hazardous-area approval, name it explicitly and verify applicability. Do not infer an approval from a general family webpage, a diaphragm material or a photograph.
Coordinate production and maintenance
Confirm the intended diaphragm and valve arrangement, access for inspection, and the spare components required for the cleaning regime. Keep maintenance substitutions under configuration control. The user must qualify the actual equipment and cleaning process against its own product and quality requirements before production acceptance.
